Three sisters – we hug together, yet each of us faces different directions, different issues, and have our own way of viewing the world. We hang together in that strength of differences.
This piece is made from a cedar log that once was part of a house foundation. As such, it has nail holes in it and discolorations because it has spent years holding up its world. A friend gave me this log and it was soaking wet. I had to dry it for a number of years before starting any work with it. Cedar is a soft wood and it will dent and not hold detail very well. So, this image is more abstract in order to last. (Yes, up in the Northwest, they carve totem poles out of cedar, but each element is a lot bigger.) It has a coat of Tung Oil on it.
