I always save leftover pieces of fabric and yarn from completed projects, and at some point in time when I have accumulated enough, I make a basket from these scraps. For fun, I challenge myself to use no “new” fabrics and still make something I like from the very random scraps I have been saving. This basket is one from the series titled “Joseph’s Coat”.
Coiling is a technique using fabric and/or yarn to cover rope, rope becoming the core. While covering the rope I continually use the fabric to connect one row to the next. In making the continual connections, the piece becomes firm and acquires the desired shape and design.
