An organic setting as this 1/4 thick board tiger pauses, drinking, looking at you with a reflection in the water.
The challenge with this piece is the sheer number of cuts. Every void you see in the image is hand drilled, then a thin blade inserted and cut with my scroll saw. The shape of the opening is determined by how I rotate the 12 x 12 board, turning it, and guiding it through the saw. This piece has over 200 cuts and with an average of 3 minutes per cut, it was well over 10 hours on the saw.
I have added close ups of the eye of the tiger and the muzzle. (Those whiskers alone were over 2 hours of cutting.)
In my collection is another rendering of this image under glass with a black mat. The other image is more polished.
This cutting is based on an image from C. Dearing. I have the full permission to create this art from the image.
As with all my work, I used my scroll saw in the construction of the art, no computer guided tools.
For shipping, my first choice is we meet in the DFW metroplex. However, I will use fully insured UPS shipping at a S&H cost of $87.50.
